Supply Chain
Supplier Monitoring
JBS has an advanced monitoring system for cattle, grain, and oil suppliers that uses public and government databases, satellite imagery, and georeferenced data to monitor supplying farms. Direct suppliers that do not comply with our policy criteria are automatically blocked in the system, preventing any commercial transactions until the situation is resolved.
This control mechanism ensures that only suppliers aligned with our standards remain in our supply chain. Verifying the socio-environmental compliance of direct cattle, grain, and oil suppliers is essential to ensure the integrity of our production chains.
Cattle Traceability
Transparent Livestock Platform
The Transparent Livestock Platform (PPT) is a JBS initiative designed to increase transparency and socio-environmental compliance in the cattle supply chain.
Cowbot – Third-Party Monitoring Tool
Cowbot is a tool developed by JBS to enhance socio-environmental monitoring in Brazilian cattle ranching. Available free of charge via WhatsApp, the solution allows ranchers—whether or not they are company suppliers—to verify the socio-environmental compliance of rural properties before conducting business.
Through an interactive chat, Cowbot provides free access to the same information used by JBS in its traceability system. Users simply share geolocation data or the farm’s Rural Environmental Registry (CAR) number.
Within three minutes, the tool verifies whether the property complies with socio-environmental criteria, such as:
No deforestation
Not located on Indigenous lands, quilombola territories, or conservation units
No environmental embargoes
This service can be used for any rural property, including grain production areas and other agricultural commodities, making it a strategic ally for safer and more sustainable business.
Cowbot reinforces JBS’s commitment to traceability, transparency, and socio-environmental compliance, aligning with the Transparent Livestock Platform and other company digital initiatives. The tool democratizes access to information—previously restricted to intermediaries and paid services—providing producers with a fast, reliable, and free assessment in just three minutes.
Leather ID – Leather Traceability
Present in eight countries, JBS Leather has a rigorous traceability system that tracks raw materials from origin to final product delivery, allowing customers to identify the tannery and production unit of origin for each hide, the processing date, and the group of farms that composed the lot on that specific date.
Leather ID ensures that all animals purchased originate from farms that:
- Are not located in deforested areas (in accordance with the Brazilian Forest Code), Indigenous lands, or environmental conservation units
- Do not use slave-like labor
- Do not operate in areas embargoed by IBAMA
Green Offices
Created in 2021, JBS Green Offices are structures within Friboi units that offer free consulting and technical support to producers interested in regularizing their properties and adopting best practices.
The main objectives of Green Offices are:
- Supporting the environmental regularization of properties
- Providing technical support and guidance to producers for the regularization of supplying farm registrations
Starting in 2024, JBS expanded Green Offices services to producers across Brazil through a new virtual service channel: EV Virtual, where producers can receive assistance via email, telephone, or WhatsApp.
The Virtual Green Office conducts initial consultations, filters and categorizes requests to generate solution-oriented actions for producers, strengthening partnership relationships and enabling access for new suppliers seeking environmental regularization.
